Illustration Friday: Empty

My Illustration Friday Post for the week~ Topic: Empty. This is a collage and drawing that came out of some subconcious part of my mind. Hard to explain it...better not to try. Titled, "Is Her Cup Empty or Full?"

I love the collage details in your drawing. She's definitely got personality. The lavenders and greens are quite relaxing. (And, I'm partial to teacups, too.)

I love the gentle way that you use collage here.

I really like the funny way you have drawn her feet and legs..her sandals are great!

Thanks for all the postive comments...yes, she has what a friend called "Picasso feet"

I too love the sandals...and that she is carrying a knife!

Fern Lady said...

Well, as for the knife, she has a bit of an edge, doesn't she?

I love this! I totally dig things that are fun and fanciful...and your mix of drawing and collage is very effective. This makes me think of playing dress-up as a child (okay, even as an adult:>)... I especially like the big feet that seem to be wearing Birkenstocks. Nice work!

Yep! Those are Birkenstocks all right! I actually used to have a purple pair of Birkenstocks just like those in college (lest you think I'm really old--it was in the 90's...guess I was a bit behind the times)

This has a wonderful air of playfulness and joy about it - the found objects work in perfectly with the sketch. She looks so grounded and happy, even if her cup may be empty...

Thanks Ian, your comment made me happy! I'm off to see what you did with this topic...
