Illustration Friday: heroes

Here's my post for illustration Friday's theme of "Heroes".

This is a watercolor I did several years ago. At the time, I was watching Joseph Campbell's "Power of Myth" videos (from the Bill Moyer's PBS series). I guess some images from the "hero's quest" show got into my unconscious. This picture has the flavor of images of Hindu Deities that were shown in that series. But most of it is from my own quirky brain.

what's funny is that the first thing i thought of when i read this week's illo topic was "the power of myth." oh i loved the whole series and for some strange reason i love bill moyer - and i love your illustration. i can see how joseph campbell may have influenced it!

That's pretty cool... I'm assuming she's some sort of nature goddess (the green & lightning cued me in!)

There's something kind of Celtic about this - maybe it's an archetypal kind of figure. I like the integrated aspects of this nature deity (various natural forces represented in the one being) and the colour choices are beautiful!

yes..Celtic, Earthy, I think it's a mishmash of archetypal stuff floating around in my brain. Glad you liked it.
